So after multiple blood tests, a colonoscopy, and an ultrasound; I’ve been diagnosed with IBS. I’m so pleased that we’ve come to a diagnosis so that I can research my issue and learn more about how to balance my diet so that I don’t have to deal with IBS attacks. I’m still going to live GFCF for three months to heal my colon. I am also keeping a food log to try to figure out what foods work for my system and which ones are “triggers”. Being GFCF still isn’t a walk in the park, but I am learning to find my favorite brands and trying to cook-from-scratch as much as possible. Veggies and fruits have been my food of choice along with some kind of meat – fish, steak or chicken.

Unfortunately I did not have *any* success finding gluten free food at Cedar Point on Sunday. It’s possible that I didn’t search hard enough, but luckily I brought many GFCF snacks with me. I would suggest bringing your own food in a cooler; that seems to be the safest option. I noticed that a lot of families leave the park during lunch time and eat the food that they brought which was stored in their car. And of course you can re-enter Cedar Point! That way you can save a lot of money because Cedar Point food is very expensive. On a side note, we did go to Ruby Tuesday and Outback Steak House, and both restaurants have a gluten free menu!

“On Cedar Point’s web site they are now listing gluten free foods and desserts! However, they are not all available yet. I spoke with Gary Jones, Food Director and Instructor at C.P. and he informed me that he got clearance to provide all of the foods but then for some reason (probably finances) the company put the items on temporary hold. So he asked me to email him and for as many celiacs as possible to email him to let the company know how much we need C.P. to offer gluten free foods and he will compile all the emails and present them to the board with the hopes that these foods will be offered as early as July in the park. These foods include desserts, sandwiches, pizza and much more. So please spread the word and everybody email Gary Jones at gjones@cedarpoint.com Thank you for your help “

This weekend my husband and I and a bunch of our friends, are going to Cedar Point. One of the first things that came to my mind was where will I be able to eat? So I began to do research online to find vendors and restaurants that are close. Upon our return, I will let you know what I found and the quality of the food. Do you know of any gluten free vendors or restaurants? I have a feeling it’s going to be hard to find Casein free food as well… I’ll let you know how it goes!

Living Gluten-free & Casein-free

On October 14th, my doctor put me on a Gluten-free and Casein-Free diet due to some health issues. When I left her office and headed to the store, I felt completely lost. I had to do a lot of label reading, and still didn’t really know what I was looking for. 2 hours and $150 later, I came out with two bags of food; not knowing whether or not I would even like what I bought!

When I arrived home, I did some internet searching, but didn’t find a lot of GFCF resources for the Greater Lansing area. That is why I decided to start this blog. It’s my vision that people in the Greater Lansing area (and beyond) can come to this blog to share their favorite GFCF foods, stores, brands, restaurants, and any GFCF information.

In the last six days I’ve learned so much more about the GFCF diet, and have already discovered some of my favorite brands. Unfortunately not all GFCF food tastes wonderful, but I’ve started to find a few favorites already. I hope that this blog will take some of the guess-work out of shopping for current and new GFCF individuals.

Feel free to add a post on the appropriate page about your favorite GFCF brand, restaurant, a store that you discovered carries GFCF products, etc.!
